Learning For Life

Learning for Life is a character education program
designed for kindergarten through twelfth grade. The
purpose of the program is to support schools in their
efforts to prepare and educate all students in character
education. The program offers an integrated curriculum
that enhances the regular school learning experience.
The curriculum for each grade consists of sixty-one
age-appropriate and grade specific lesson plans designed
to reinforce social, ethical, and academic skills
in such areas as critical and creative thinking, ethical
decision making, conflict resolution, interpersonal
relationships, practical living skills, building self-esteem,
writing and other language arts, and participating
citizenship.
Learning
for Life is an excellent tool for teachers to educate
students to realize and see things in different perspectives.
With each lesson instructed, students gain an enhanced
concept of cause and effect as associated to individual
actions. The participants recognize how their actions
not only affect themselves, but others; therefore,
resulting in becoming more responsible for their actions.
The children also begin to understand that just as
they want to be respected and treated fairly, so do
they have to treat others in the same manner. Consequently,
participants become more respectful, honest, empathetic,
and responsible. Accordingly, the Boy Scouts of America,
Alamo Area Council, Inc. is committed to securing
the necessary registration fees and program supply
costs to provide the Learning for Life program, at
no cost to the participants. d
