Where Our Money Comes From
20% Friends of Scouting
A Substantial part of the council's operating needs
are provided by Friends
of Scouting campaign through parents, individuals,
and businesses and service organizations.
20% United Way
The Council receives support from the United Way
of San Antonio and Bexar County, Comal, Guadalupe,
Kerr, Kenedy and Karnes City.
23% Camping and Activities
The council generates income from Council wide
activities, such as Scout Country Fair, along with
the camping operations
throughout the year.
20% Special Events
The council conducts special fundraising activities
such as Good Scout Award Luncheon and product sales
such as Trail's End Gourmet Popcorn
17% Other Income
Money is also derived from special grants, foundations,
and interest accrued from the Council's Operating
and Endowment Fund.
Where Our Money Goes
71% Programs and Services
A major part of the budget covers organizing and
serving units and providing our sponsoring institutions
with liability insurance. Also, the council provides
full-time professional service and clerical staff
that handles thousands of inquires for camping,
registration, and problem-solving information.
17% Camping and Activities
The council maintains two camping facilities where
units can camp throughout the year.
12% Operating Costs
National Charter Fee.
Insurance
The council provides each and every youth and adult
member of the organization with Accident & Sickness
Insurance to help insure our membership a safe Scouting
experience. We also provide liability insurance for
adult volunteers and chartered organizations.
