FAST START: Fast Start is designed to provide an immediate comfort level for new leaders and enables them to say “I can do this!”. Fast Start training is the first step for any new volunteer and is to be delivered immediately after a new leader registers and before he or she meets with any youth member. Fast Start is available on line by clicking the links below. It is also available from your Pack, Troop or Crew. THIS IS SCOUTING: This online training course replaces New Leader Essentials as the first step in “basic leader training” and is required for all new leaders. CUB SCOUT LEADERSHIP SPECIFIC TRAINING: Tiger Cub den leaders, Cub Scout den leaders, Webelos den leaders, Cubmasters, pack committee members and Pack Trainers complete this training which includes Introduction to Cub Scouting, How We Have Fun and Position Specific training in approximately 3 hours. Health & Safety is a course designed to ensure that all adult leaders are aware of BSA’s policies on water, automobile, hiking, B.B. gun and camping safety and acceptable and unacceptable outdoor activities. YOUTH PROTECTION: Youth Protection is an important component of the Boy Scout’s strategy to protect its members from child abuse and is required for all leaders and for all adults attending Cub Day Camps, Boy Scout Summer Camps and High Adventure Camps. INTRODUCTION TO OUTDOOR LEADER SKILLS: The Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills is the required outdoor training for all Scoutmasters, assistant Scoutmasters, Varsity Scout leaders and Venturing leaders. The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in the Boy Scout Handbook. The course focuses on skills that build confidence and competence in leaders conducting outdoor camping experiences. OUTDOOR LEADER SKILLS FOR WEBELOS LEADERS: The Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders is the outdoor training program to prepare Webelos leaders to take the boys into an outdoor setting. BASIC ADULT LEADER OUTDOOR ORIENTATION (BALOO): BALOO is required for Cub Scout Pack leadership who will be conducting a pack overnighter at McGimsey Scout Park. WOOD BADGE: Wood
Badge is the advanced training program for all Scout leaders.
The course concentrates on leadership skills and group dynamics
to improved the quality of Scouting offered at every level.
Wood Badge training has two parts.
The first is practical experience where the Scouter lives as a
member of a patrol and practices the skills of leadership.
This practical training is conducted over two, three day

POWDER HORN: Plan now to attend the Fall 2012 Powder Horn Course to be conducted at Bear Creek Scout Reservation over two three-day weekends (that is all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday). This exciting and challenging new course will soon fill to its capacity of 48 participants. It is designed for all Venturing Advisors and Boy Scout High Adventure enthusiasts. Powder Horn is a training opportunity designed to expose the Venturing or Boy Scout leader to activities and resources necessary to operate a successful high adventure program in several ways: * Help Venturing and Boy Scout leaders to safely conduct outdoor activities of a fun and challenging nature. * Provide an introduction to the resources available to successfully lead Venturers & older Boy Scouts through a program of high adventure. * Familiarize the Advisor with the Ranger program so that he or she can help the Venturer meet the requirements of the Ranger Award . Philmont Training Center: Nestled in the mountains of northeastern New Mexico is "Scouting Paradise". The Philmont Scout Ranch, popular for high adventure activites, is also home to the Philmont Training Center, scouting's premier training opportunity for all adults in the program.
