Lake J. B. Thomas

Lake J.B. Thomas is a 8,000 acre reservoir on the Colorado River north of Colorado City, Texas. To get there from San Antonio, take IH 10 west to Junction. From Junction take U.S. 83 north to Eden and proceed west on U.S. 87 to San Angelo. From San Angelo take State Highway 208 north to Colorado City. From Colorado City take IH 20 west to FM 1229, go north to FM 1808, continue north to State Highway 350, then go northeast to FM 2085. Take FM 2085 to the lake headquarters.

There are four separate camping areas with various facilities operated by the Colorado River Municipal Water District at Lake J.B. Thomas: Bull Creek Park, Sandy Beach Park, White Island Park, and South Side Park.

Recreational activities include swimming, fishing, and boating.
