Padre Island National Seashore stretches for 113 miles along the Gulf Coast from Corpus Christi almost to Mexico. To get there from San Antonio, take IH 37 southeast to Corpus Christi. In Corpus Christi take Padre Island Drive across town and take the causeway across Laguna Madre to Padre Island. Follow the signs to the Padre Island National Seashore. There are tent camping facilities available on a first-come, first-served basis. Picnic tables, restrooms, and cold showers are provided. Recreational activities include swimming and fishing.
