Davy Crockett National Forest
The Davy Crockett National Forest covers 161,478 acres in Houston and Trinity counties. To get there from San Antonio, take IH 35 northeast to San Marcos, exit onto State Highway 21 and proceed northeast to Bryan-College Station. From Bryan-College Station take State Highway 30 east to Huntsville, take State Highway 19 to Trinity, and take State Highway 94 to Groveton. There are three separate camping areas with various facilities operated by the U.S. Forest Service in the Davy Crockett National Forest: Lake Ratcliff Recreation Area, Kickapoo, and Neches Bluff. Recreational activities include swimming, fishing and boating.
