Big Bend National Park is 802,541 acres bounded on three sides by The "Big Bend" of the Rio Grande River. To get there from San Antonio, take U.S. 90 west through Del Rio and on to Marathon. From Marathon take U.S. 385 south to Big Bend. There are three separate camping areas with various facilities at Big Bend National Park: Chisos Mountains Basin has flush toilets, Cottonwood Campground has pit toilets, and Rio Grande Village has flush toilets and showers. No reservations are accepted. Recreational activities include hiking, fishing, and boating. There are guided horseback trips and river trips available.
