Amistad National Recreation Area is located on the Texas side of the 64,900 acre Amistad Reservoir on the Rio Grande River near Del Rio, Texas. To get there from San Antonio, take U.S. 90 west to Del Rio. The recreation area headquarters is just north of Del Rio. There are several primitive camping areas with chemical toilets and no water: Governor’s Landing, San Pedro, 277 North, and 277 South. The 277 North camping area has a group facility available by reservation only. Recreational activities include swimming, fishing, and boating.
