|
This section contains information on Boy Scout Council Camps. The twenty-one councils headquartered in Texas own and operate a total of forty-four camps. Although most are in Texas, camps in New Mexico, Arkansas, and Oklahoma are included. Council camps offer certain advantages for weekend camping. First, most do not charge any fees for Scout units, and those that do only charge a nominal fee for the use of equipment and facilities. Second, council camps are specifically laid out with Boy Scout and Explorer program features in mind. Most are used for summer camp so be sure to check their schedule. The camps in this section offer a wide range of terrain and facilities. From the rocky cliffs of Bear Creek to the pine forest of Lost Pines, from the mountain peaks of Buffalo Trail to the plains of C.W. Post, there is something available to suit every taste.
