GULF COAST HIGH ADVENTURE
STATION
LAGUNA MADRE
The Gulf Coast High Adventure Station is operated by the Rio Grande Council and offers 5 programs, each with a different character, length and price.
Gulf Sailing Adventure
A 40-50 foot sailing yacht will become your home for the week. The yacht has a large self-contained galley and dining area where you will prepare wholesome meals from the fresh foods supplied by the Laguna Station commissary. You will sleep on the deck and in the bunks below. Your vessel also has an auxiliary engine to be used when the tropical winds are not sufficient.
Your Captain will instruct you in navigation, fishing and sailing and will remain on board for the entire trip. Great snorkeling, abundant fishing, an overnight on the island and a South Texas Pachanga are parts of this exciting adventure. If you are looking for a challenging sailing experience, to get involved in all aspects of shipboard life, then the Gulf Sailing Adventure is for you.
Registration is on a first-come, first served basis. A total of forty-eight participants will be divided into groups of six to eight based on vessel capacity.
Fee per person $450.00
Gulf Fishing Adventure
Your fishing adventures are based out of the finest fun and activity facility located on South Padre Island. The Laguna Madre Station has a swimming pool, volleyball courts, horseshoe pitching and a live sound stage. More importantly, it is just over the white sand dunes from the beach and the breaking surf. Boats will take you to our unique, self-contained fishing lodge in the middle of the Laguna Madre for a night of fishing and fun. The next morning, you will depart in specially designed, shallow-draft boats for a day of fishing upon the sparkling waters of the Laguna Madre. After rest and relaxation on the beach, or snorkeling, or surfing, you will travel to an overnight camp located on the northern reaches of the island where Spanish galleon shipwrecks left their treasures centuries ago. The day will be spent surf fishing and treasure hunting. A final fishing adventure into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico for deep sea fishing will culminate your fabulous four fishing adventures, and the closing Friday night campfire will reunite you with the participants in the other programs.
