McGimsey Scout Park has 160 acres and is located within the city of Castle Hills, a suburb of San Antonio. To get there from IH 410, take the N. W. Military Drive exit for 1 1/4 miles to Lockhill-Selma. The council office is on the left at the intersection. Go left on Lockhill-Selma and immediately take a left on Wedgewood. The camp gate is located on Wedgewood. Contact the Ranger at the house just inside the gate.

There are 8 campsites available and the camp is open year round. Water is available at each campsite, as is a latrine. There is a central shower facility. There is a small pond and you may check out canoes or row boats from the Ranger. There is also a swimming pool which is open much of the time during the months of June through August.

Picnic tables and fire rings are available in the campsites and charcoal grills are available in the pool area. There are several stores within 3 blocks of the camp.

In addition to boating and swimming, there is a labeled nature trail and the pond is stocked with fish. Although the camp is located in the city, there is an abundance of wildlife to been seen. Whitetail deer roam the camp and may even wander through your campsite.

About two-thirds of the camp is wooded, but there are open fields for games and other activities that need a large open area.

There is sightseeing available nearby at the Alamo, Mission Concepcion, Mission San Jose, Mission San Juan Capistrano, and Mission Espada, Fiesta Texas, and Sea World as well as at numerous other sites in and around San Antonio.

There are many hospitals nearby and an Emergency Medical Service station is only a few blocks away. A pay telephone is available near the camp entrance. Ask the Ranger for its location.

The park is used extensively for training and meetings, so please make your reservations at least two weeks in advance to:
