Camp Tonkawa
Camp Tonkawa is situated on 200 acres with a 2 acre lake. It is approximately fifteen miles south of Abilene. To get there from San Antonio, take IH 10 northwest to Comfort. At the second Comfort exit, take U.S. 87 north through Fredericksburg, Brady, and Coleman. Approximately seven miles north of Lawn, Texas, take U.S. 83 west about three miles to Tuscola. Take FM 89 north out of Tuscola and on to Camp Tonkawa.

There are 11 campsites for tent camping. Recreational activities include hiking, boating, and fishing. Swimming is available during the summer months. There is sightseeing available nearby in Abilene and in Old Abilene Town and there is a store nearby for purchase of supplies. Abilene State Park is nearby.
The camp is open all year around except during summer camp. There is a ranger on duty.
