Camp Strake
Camp Strake is located two miles south of Conroe on the west side of IH 45. It has 2288 acres of pine forest. To get there from San Antonio, take IH 10 east to Houston. From Houston take IH 45 north toward Conroe.
All of the usual facilities are available and there are 21 camping sites. There is a mile long lake that provides excellent fishing. Hiking and nature study may also be enjoyed. Alligators live there in their natural habitat. There is sightseeing available nearby at The Sam Houston National Forest. There is a store nearby for purchase of supplies. The nearest hospital is in Conroe.
