Camp Sol Mayer

Camp Sol Mayer is situated on 300 acres 20 miles west of Menard on the San Saba River. To get there from San Antonio, take IH 10 northwest through Kerrville to Junction. From Junction take U.S. 83 north to Menard and turn west onto U.S. 190. Exit onto FM 864 and proceed south to Camp Sol Mayer.

There are 11 camp sites for tents. Cabins are not available. Picnic tables, water, and toilets are available. Showers are available except during the winter when the water must be shut off. Tents, boats, and canoes are available for use by Scout groups without any charge. There are 6 miles of hiking trails. The Fort McKavett Historical Trail starts here and all units should plan to hike the trail. The fort is located only 3 miles from the camp. Mission San Saba is also nearby. Swimming, boating, and fishing in the San Saba River is permitted. The nearest hospital is in Menard or Sonora.

The camp is open year round.
